How often should you get a facial?

A common rhythm is a facial about once a month, close to how long skin takes to renew its surface. Every six to eight weeks works for upkeep. Acne-prone skin may need closer visits, and sensitive skin more time. At Magic FemTouch MedSpa in Oak Lawn, your provider sets the spacing after your first visit.

Skin looks clear and feels smooth. This is the window for events and photos.

    Week 4

HydraFacial aftercare

Aftercare takes a day. This is the usual list; your provider goes over yours before you leave.

  • Leave the serums on for the rest of the day. Wash with a gentle cleanser that night.
  • Keep makeup light that day.
  • Skip hard workouts, saunas and hot tubs for the day.
  • Wait a day before retinol, acids, scrubs or self-tanner on your face.
  • Wear sunscreen every day. Freshly exfoliated skin burns more easily.

Before your visit, tell your provider if you use a prescription retinoid, have a sunburn or rash, or had filler or a peel recently. Call (708) 529-7655 if stinging or redness lasts more than a day.

How long does a HydraFacial last?

The smooth, fresh look shows most in the first week. Pores usually stay clearer for a few weeks, until oil and dead skin build back up. That is why once a month is the common rhythm.

Between visits, a gentle cleanser, a moisturizer and daily sunscreen do most of the work.

If monthly does not fit your schedule

A facial each season still helps: hydration in winter, a deeper clean in spring, something gentle in summer. Book one a few days before a big event, too.

Walk-ins are welcome Tuesday to Saturday, so you can come when you have time.

Questions

Facial timing questions

Is it bad to get a facial every week?

For most skin, yes, it is too often. Weekly exfoliation and extractions can leave skin red and more sensitive. Gentle treatments like LED are the exception and are often done weekly during a series.

Does age change how often I should get a facial?

A little. In your 20s, every four to eight weeks, or when breakouts flare, is plenty. Older skin renews more slowly, so monthly visits suit many people. Your skin type matters more than your age.

How often should men get a facial?

About every four to six weeks works for most men. The focus is often on oily areas, ingrown hairs and the back.

Can I get a facial and a chemical peel in the same month?

Yes, with spacing. Many people alternate a facial and a light peel a few weeks apart. Your provider sets the gap for your skin.

Can I work out after a HydraFacial?

Wait until the next day for a hard workout. Heavy sweat can irritate freshly exfoliated skin and wash off the serums. A walk is fine.

Can I get a HydraFacial every two weeks?

For a short series aimed at clogged pores, some people do. For most skin, about once a month is enough. More often can irritate sensitive skin.

Can I get a HydraFacial after Botox or filler?

Usually, with some time in between. Tell your provider what you had and when, and they plan the facial around it.
