Does Botox hurt, and will I look frozen?

01

Will I look frozen?

Not when the dose fits the area. Tell your provider how much movement you want to keep. A lighter dose leaves more movement, and a little more can be added at a later visit.

02

Does Botox hurt?

Most people feel a quick pinch at each point. The needle is very fine, and the injections take a few minutes. Small bumps where the needle went in go down soon after.

03

How much does Botox cost?

It depends on the areas and the dose each one needs. It is priced at your consult.

What Botox treats

Botox works on lines that show when your face moves.

Botox adds no volume and does not lift loose skin. Lines that stay when your face is at rest may need dermal fillers or microneedling as well.

  • Frown lines (the 11 lines)

  • Forehead lines

The lines that show when you raise your eyebrows.

For most people, Botox lasts about three to four months. Movement comes back slowly, and the lines come back with it. Many people book again around then.

How long it lasts depends on the area, the dose and how strong the muscle is. More on timing in how long Botox lasts.

How does Botox work?

Botox is a prescription injection that relaxes the small muscles that crease your skin when you frown, squint or raise your brows. As those muscles move less, the lines soften. At Magic FemTouch MedSpa in Oak Lawn, your provider sets the dose for each area. Most people see the full change in about two weeks.

Questions

Botox questions

How long does Botox last?

For most people, about three to four months. Movement and lines come back slowly as it wears off. Your provider tells you when to plan the next visit.

When will I see Botox results?

Most people notice a change in a few days. The full effect shows at about two weeks. Plan any big event for at least two weeks after your visit.

What is the 4-hour rule for Botox?

It means staying upright for about four hours after your injections, and not rubbing the area. The aim is to keep the product where it was placed. Your provider goes over aftercare before you leave.

Who is not a good candidate for Botox?

People who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or who have a nerve or muscle condition, should wait. So should anyone with an infection where they want treatment. Your provider asks about your health at the consult.

Do you age faster after stopping Botox?

No. When Botox wears off, the muscles move the way they did before. The lines come back to where they would have been, not further.

Can I get Botox and filler at the same visit?

Many people use both, for different areas. Botox treats lines from movement, and filler adds volume. Your provider tells you at the consult whether to do both the same day.
